Hidirlik Hill Viewpoint: Panoramic Views Over Beypazarı

Hidirlik Hill is modest in appearance: at the summit you’ll find a small café, a few picnic tables and a row of local women selling spices. Yet despite its simplicity, it remains one of my favorite spots in Beypazarı.

Why is that?

Because from Hidirlik Hill you get a complete, sweeping view over the town—an outlook that captures Beypazarı’s character in a single glance.

My fascination began in a small local restaurant where a framed photograph hung on the wall: an elevated black-and-white view of Beypazarı taken from a high vantage. I was instantly captivated and determined to recreate that perspective for myself.

Sinan, one of the local tourism promoters, made it happen. He knew the image had been shot from Hidirlik Hill and took me there—twice.

Our first visit was in the early evening as night fell. The goal was to practice nighttime photography and to see how the town transformed under artificial light.

The second visit was in daylight so I could reproduce the black-and-white composition from the restaurant photo and study the details of the town’s layout, roofs and streets.

The Lure of Hidirlik Hill

I often find myself chasing the unusual or quirky places that promise a story. Hidirlik Hill is none of those extremes—its charm is simpler and more elemental: a broad, peaceful panorama of Beypazarı, the historic Ottoman town I had explored on foot.

From above, houses shrink into neat matchbox shapes and cars become toy-like models. That change of scale reframes the town, turning familiar streets and rooftops into a miniature, orderly landscape.

Standing there, surveying the scene, I felt unexpectedly empowered. The elevated vantage made the town seem small and manageable, and for a short while I felt larger than life. Call it a fleeting ego boost—yet it was a warm, human feeling of connection with the place.

That sense of perspective—both literal and emotional—is what Hidirlik Hill View Point offers visitors: a tranquil spot to absorb Beypazarı’s architecture, history and rhythm from above.
